C, an E-flat, and G go into a bar. The bartender says: "Sorry, but we don't serve minors." So, the E-flat leaves, and the C and the G have an open fifth between them. After a few drinks, the fifth is diminished: the G is out flat.

An F comes in and tries to augment the situation, but is not sharp enough. A D comes into the bar and heads straight for the bathroom saying, "Excuse me, I'll just be a second."

An A comes into the bar, but the bartender is not convinced that this relative of C is not a minor. Then the bartender notices a B-flat hiding at the end of the bar and exclaims: "Get out now! You're the seventh minor I've found in this bar tonight." The E-flat, not easily deflated, comes back to the bar the next night in a 3-piece suit with nicely shined shoes.

The bartender (who used to have a nice corporate job until his company downsized) says: "You're looking sharp tonight, come on in! This could be a major development." This proves to be the case, as the E-flat takes off the suit and stands there au natural. Eventually, the C sobers up and realizes in horror that he's under a rest. The C is brought to trial, is found guilty of contributing to the diminution of a minor, and is sentenced to 10 years of DS without Coda at an upscale correctional facility.

On appeal, however, the C is found innocent of any wrongdoing, even accidental, and that all accusations to the contrary are bassless. The bartender decides, however, that since he's only had tenor so patrons, the soprano out in the bathroom, and everything has become alto much treble, he needs a rest and closes the bar.

***

Now wasn’t that just majorly funny? xD

"Life is a comedy for those who think... and a tragedy for those who feel." - Horace Walpole

…how about, “Life is a comedy for those who don’t think… and a tragedy for those who feel… and a whole lot of heartache for those who think and think and think and think and…” ?

After Fantastic Mr Fox!

Listening to the radio via my handphone whilst looking out of the window on the MRT. Have I ever said how much I liked to see Singapore at night? All the lights against a backdrop of dark sky.

4 Songs that made me happy to hear them on the way home:

1) Fireflies – Owl City

2) Just You and Me – Zee Avi

3) Lucky – Jason Mraz, feat. Colbie Caillat

4) Hero – Enrique Iglesias

Hmm… I want to go cycling with my family some time.

And my brother’s leaving for OBS Sabah tomorrow! ): I’m going to be so lonely at home, boohoo. No one to tickle and to force hugs and kisses (on the cheek, of course) upon.

Boohoo.

Now that the promos are over, we can finally concentrate on Project Work! The restructured timetable does not sound at all appealing though… sigh.

Well, since Promos could pretty much be considered one of the most major examinations in my school career, then I suppose it warrants a countdown as I take my last 3 papers for the year.

I’m posting from Windows Live Writer again, and I’m going to exploit that Polaroid Picture function to make this a Special countdown xD

This leaves me with “Wednesday – H2 Physics” and “Thursday – H2 ELL”.

Bravo to all who have already completed their Promotion Examinations, congratulations to all who are finishing theirs tomorrow, and good luck to all who still have papers/ practicals to do! (:

A ballpoint-pen-on-foolscap sketch that was inspired by a classmate's dream of opening a cafeteria chain... after she lands herself a rich husband with enough cash to fund the enterprise, no kidding!

She hasn't thought up a name yet, which explains the blank space I'd left on the front of the cake counter.

I told her I'd complete it, scan it, and send it to her. Guess I'd do it now and wish her luck with what remains of our Promos (:

As for me, I'mma keep chill without being slack. Now for a past-midnight shower, then it's more Math and Physics in bed!

I didn't post anything about my visit to RGS on 31st August. Today, on a whim, I decided to retrieve that old History project from the cabinet, in response to Mr Chew's question:

"Did I return you your History PT? The dolls? Because I was looking for it frantically. I wanted it for Open House."

Hahaha, Mr Chew!

I remember the day I brought it back, I didn't want to look at it at all, if only because it didn't make the 18/20 score I'd hoped for (and also because Mr Chew had only asked for the 18 and above projects for Open House). Heh.

So, off into the cabinet it went.

If I'd held out for another 4 days, I'd have abstained from LJ for a whole month!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My classmate decided that she wanted to make use of the digital camera she'd bought at the beginning of the year (she wanted her parents to know that the camera was worth every cent, haha). So she started taking photographs of things that amused her at school, or that she wanted to remember for any other reason. I decided I'd try that for a while, since I haven't got as much to say when pictures can probably say more for themselves.

(Besides, I don't feel like saying much these days. Must be the PW/Promo stress catching up, hah. I realise I've been snapping at people more often recently. Pssh.)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NATIONAL DAY! O:

Through my bedroom window at night...

The Display Cabinet in my bedroom :D

If I remember right, it was bought sometime in 2007. It's filled up nicely, as you can see, though...

Judging from the four (four-midable) stacks of books here by my bedside...

...you can see that I've run out of space!

Then again, I don't think there will ever be enough space. Doesn't it seem to be the case that when there's free space, we'll always try our best to fill it up? And then when you're done filling it up, you realise you need more space again, so that that space can be filled up with even more things, haha!

From Reuters:

Conferencier Coco (R) and artist Cloe pose for a picture at a 1930s Great Depression theme party in the Belvedere palace in Potsdam outside Berlin July 25, 2009. Dressed in the haughty salon fashion of the 1920s and 30s, some 500 guests danced to Charleston and Foxtrott in a 19th century Italian style castle, celebrating decadence and burlesque culture of the Great Depression era, in what the organi
sers "Boheme Sauvage" said was the best way to escape the mundane reality of today's financial crisis.

I've been yawning and walking around half-dazed for the most of today because of staying out late last night, haha.

-----

I'm feeling a little more hopeful now, after having returned from the university and scholarship fair at Suntec. It felt good to be able to start setting some tangible goals and getting down to realising them. And I discovered that perhaps I might actually like to do architecture, so that's one new option aside from business and/or law, though I really don't know what my parents think of that. Perhaps I'd speak to them about it over tea or dinner later.

And now for the immediate problem:
My Feet Hurt ):

Reality smacks. Hard.

I slept with the handphone on radio mode last night, with the hands-free set plugged snugly in my ears. As Class 95's Morning Express is what I usually listen to on my way to school, I was about half-awake when it started to play on the radio.

Announcements and music played alongside a dream sequence or two, until I heard something about how Michael Jackson's passed away at age 50. Another dream sequence interrupts the already jumbled train of thoughts. Then my mom taps my shoulder, and I stretch and open my eyes.

I woke up thinking it was only a dream.

Until my mom told me, "Did you hear? Michael Jackson died."

"I know, I heard it on the radio," I brushed my teeth and took a shower.

My dad commented later in the living room, "Do you know Michael Jackson died?"

"Yeah, heard it on the radio. It's been on all night," and then I had my cereal and tea.

And I still can't believe I woke up thinking it was a dream!

It was so sudden, and happened just early this morning (well, he was in LA, so that's a time difference of -15 hours?); the Flying Dutchman said he'd been listening to BBC Radio while on his way to the radio station when the usual news program was interrupted with the message that MJ had died. Subsequently, listeners of Class 95 smsed the Morning Express to confirm what they'd heard.

"Michael Jackson died?!"

Yes, he passed away. An autopsy's being done but it seems he'd died of a heart attack ):

----

...Can we please play Heal the World for the 1st August performance?

----

Some songs by Michael Jackson that I really like:
1) The Girl is Mine
2) Man in the Mirror
3) Thriller
4) Black or White
5) Heal the World
6) You Rock My World

Taken from [info]melancholise

Leave me a comment and I will give you a letter. Then, go to your journal and post ten things you love starting with that letter.

1. Cycling
Cycling is the first thing I think of doing whenever I feel stressed and tired. Because cycling gives me the freedom to go faster and further than my own two feet can take me. And sometimes, I can't help but smile when I get on my bike :D Cycling takes you places~!

And I think, once my parents trust me enough to do it, I want to go on a cycling road trip. How exciting-- with some money, a backpack, and a bike, there's so much fun to be had!

2. Creative expression
Drawing in my sketchbook -- one of the nicest ways to spend all that spare free time, and also a great way to de-stress, next to cycling. If there was no means of creative expression, then the world would be an awfully boring place! And life would not be quite as enjoyable without it. Where would all the poetry go (I particularly love Shakespeare!), and the paintings, and song (I sing in the shower!) and dance!

3. Catching up with old friends
Love catching up with old friends, especially those that suddenly pop up after years of not having seen or spoken to each other. Although it might take a while for the conversations to eventually kick off, we end up learning new things about each other's new circumstances, and about what happened in all those years of no communication.

It's not just friends that I've not seen in ages. There are some who seem to have disappeared since going to JC-- doesn't it make you wonder where they've been?

4. Chocolates
My brother's school made them sell The Cocoa Trees vouchers some time ago. It was a booklet of 10 vouchers worth $10 each. In the end, we bought up the whole booklet and just yesterday, dropped by The Cocoa Trees at Raffles City during our staycation at Fairmont Hotel. Imagine, $100-worth of chocolates! ♥♥♥

Drostes' chocolate pastilles: Orange, dark, extra dark, milk chocolate/ white chocolate
Reeces' peanut butter cups
A block of liquer chocolates from I-can't-remember-what brand
A box of Belgian chocolate truffles (I love the box! It's pretty!)
And more chocolates I can't recall right now XD

5. Cha-cha
This really refers to the dance classes at RGS, one of the more memorable and fun lessons that were part of the Aesthetics block. I think I'd like to pick up a dance for the long hols, like November and December. Any suggestions?

6 to 10 under the cut! )

Thanks to FionaC and her 1337 ELL sk33lz, she somehow borrowed from the Chinese language (浪费), and then used suffixation to bring about the different forms of the verb.

The kids at Alife were more bearable today xD Playing "Eraser Fight" -- a game I've not played since like, forever -- really brought back such fond memories (memories of how I used to almost always win, eh? hahaha, >D beat the kids and Dennis, and once, Geeru)

And omg, I found my "Country Erasers" 8D

Hmm yes, I think being in Harmoc might just be the best thing to happen in my JC life. Cos everyone's so awesome, and fun, and friendly. No one else might think we're a "cool" CCA, but I think we're cool in a different way.

...Well, maybe we're all just a little bit crazy. That's something about people in Harmoc, I think xD

-----

I want to go to Alife and see the kids on the last day of volunteering! Not sure if I can find the time to, but I really want to! And then, Saturday's ECP, which means CYCLING (again 8D).

-----

Cycled to the Bukit Timah Firestation last night, the place that's now called Spectra and is a small hub of sorts for all the Arts schools -- pottery, painting, philosophy, antiques, etc. -- and this Gastro Bar called The Firestation.

Love the place, though it's really very remote! Very private though, and very cosy. If I ever get to live in a bungalow, I'd want my verandah and bar to be just like that (not a restaurant, though xD), overlooking a garden, with wooden furniture and simple, tasteful decor...

Mm-hmm.

I am to learn!

Hey, I didn't know what the Voynich Manuscript was unti I wiki-ed it after reading this comic strip from xkcd!

And +2 to your Int stats, whoever gets what the comic strip's saying xD

P.S. Gee! I thought my brother, of all people, would get it, but he didn't! O:

-----

Reintroduction into mugging mode!

The first step: to stop playing the MMORPG and read my Econs notes, with breaks between each topic to Facebook, xkcd, and whatever else  can be done with just a web browser.

Next step: to reward myself with an hour or two's worth of MMORPG after having completed the day's work quota :D So I won't feel tempted to play during the breaks in between!

So far so good. Econs WILL be fully mugged by the next 2 or 3 days *determined* Otherwise, my holiday plans will have gone down the drain ):

(YES. PLANS LIKE CYCLING TO CHOA CHU KANG PARK TOMORROW EVENING FOR DINNER.)

Yeah, like how people feel about Comic Sans 8D It's so horrendously primary school 8D

But seriously, Papyrus is... an ugly, ugly font.

Post-practice meeting was hilarious stuff. And even though I'm not officially in the exco, I feel like the official Creative Arts Director or something, haha!

Post-meeting lunch was awesome; we need to do batch lunch more often! Dennis remarked, "This is our first harmoc lunch, I just realised!" Though, really, there weren't exactly many of us xD and seven people don't make the whole ensemble!

Next up's the batch outing on the 13th! Woohoo, except I have piano! But it's okay, I'll go after that and bring my bike :D !!!

Reminds me of Maou!

But my interest was really only piqued recently, when FionaC claimed she consulted the tarot cards about her day, and it told her "Something surprising will happen that will make your day"...

or something like that.

Tarot Card Readings!

Whatever it is, it's fun! Just take everything with a pinch of salt (though I'm pretty sure my reading earlier was awfully uncanny...)

Idea!

Suggest something really fun/ exciting/ different that I could do this coming June Hols (it's coming in 2 weeks!).

It has to be really fun/ really exciting/ really different, so that I can have maximum fun in minimum time (cos we all know the June Hols are really meant for mugging for the CTs after that).

Don't think anyone will actually respond to this, but hey, it's always fun talking about the things you'd like to do during the June Hols before they're actually here. Talking about holidays during the schoolterm is the best form of stress management x)

Thought I'd post something before retiring to bed:

Wow, I'm beat and it's only 1.19am! Well, I did say the same thing earlier, at about 11.25pm, and I'm still awake.

Today's busking at Shaw Centre with the harmoc people was fun, though my sight-reading was fail to start with, so sight-reading on the chromatica was slightly more fail. But then I guess I'm improving on the chromatica (I could sight-read Pachabel's Cannon in C <-- yeah they transposed it --> rather decently okay! That is, until we got to the semi-quavers...^^; hahaha), so that's great :D

What I thought could have been better was for the THI people to have set up the location before we got there, because there was quite a lot of logistics mismanagement/ inaccuracies/ confusion which cost us about half our time slot. Otherwise, the experience was surprisingly un-malufying, fun and fulfilling. People actually donated (I feared they wouldn't!).

Conclusion: I don't mind busking again sometime. It sure makes for a great CIP experience (:

P.S. I think I am in need of a lame pun icon that is somehow connected to harmonica XD
